Bollywood Mantra

Time and again our beloved Bollywood has been accused of copying plots, music and in same cases(more than just some) complete movie from start to end. Well, its not like these rumors are all made out of thin air, they ought to hold some credibility!
And to find out what actually the case, I googled, and the result was, as expected, Bollywood= every-other-Wood=1
The list is rather long and I also downloaded and watched some of the movies, just to ensure and as it seems, the rumors are all true. For instance, the movie Man on Fire(2004) copied as Ek Ajnabee(2005) is almost frame to frame same, similarly, Partner or God Tussi Great Ho.

Back Again

Its been a long time that I've written anything. Not that I missed it as such, but a surprising number of people have been asking me to not let this go, because apparently 'I have a knack of writing' and plus I'm kind of bored and I cannot watch the same TV series anymore, so here I am, Back Again; which is obvious from the title of this post and the time gap between this post and the last.
Now, I have nothing substantive right now to blog about, nor that I have anyone who's desperately waiting for my work, so this is what I'll do (gotta start somewhere!): I'll finish off all my drafts and see how it goes, maybe then, the long-lost blogger inside me will awaken.
So, anyone who's missed me, thank you so much!

Pink Bus Service: A Delhi rape-case initiative

Now with the Delhi Gang-rape case, the true condition of Indian women has been opened up to the world.
Unfortunately, neither is this rare nor does such incident occur only in isolation. Every day tens of thousands of females travel through buses and even if 1 percent of them face any kinds of molestation, the figure says that 10 out of every 1000 female travelling in Delhi alone are exposed to such hideous act. The US based organisation, One-In-Four, surveyed on this issue and shockingly 19%-28% of college going females report rape or attempted rape in several country (The unreported figure may be even higher!)

The present case in Delhi, not only calls for stricter laws but also new ways to prevent them from happening ever again, 'ergo the PINK BUS SERVICE: of the women, for the women, by the women.
As the name suggests, this would be an ONLY FEMALE bus service that would have female drivers and conductors.
Features:
• Assured safety
• Most importantly this would give a sense of belongingness to the females which lacks in our country right now.
• More economical than Cabs for individual.
• Fuel saving, which would in-turn save foreign currency.
• Eco-friendly as the number of vehicles on road will reduce
• Female employment generation
• Less pressure of traffic on roads

As being a law student, once every year me and my other college mates spend at least a month in Delhi and as a female I can vouch for it that, had such service been given earlier, the present case and many more could have been prevented. And I personally believe all the females and Honorable CM Sheila Dixit would comply to my sentiments. Although by taking this initiative Madam Dixit, your government may loose a little revenue but more importantly you will gain the confidence of females and win their hearts.
To promote such initiatives Government should give concession on road taxes and permit fees so as to ensure sustainability and viability to the operators. The concession may be 50% to even 100% but the bus fare for passengers should remain same as other bus services.

My Dad, who has travelled through the Delhi buses felt that the condition of women was so peculiar that he being a male felt there was a dire need or emergence for an only-female bus service and then HE came up with the idea of PINK BUS SERVICE. In his words, "vo mahilaye jo cabs afford kr sakti hain vo unse chali jati thi, even though it was a little costlier. But females from middle and lower-middle income group, unn badmashiyo ko bardasht krte huye apni aatma ko maar kr unn buses mein safar krti thi, inn harkato ko apni takdeer samajh Ke. Unhe anuchit sparsh aur bhadde ishare ko jhelna padta tha."

I'm sitting here writing this post only to ensure that his idea reaches the right people. I will personally do everything in my power to spread this and I hope every reader does the same.

My precious

You know how there are some stupid people who never say i love you even they mean it from the bottom of their souls and wait for the awkward moment when you say i love you to them so they'd sarcastically reply 'aww!" Well, i'm one of those people. Not the awkward-i-love-you-er but the sarcastic-aww-er.

Why am I telling you that?
Because my sister recently got married. How recently? On 10th! The obvious part is I miss her. Not that we never stayed apart, she's been working for past 2 and half years and before that, before her college even started she was out for an year. And brother has been living away since he was in 10th std, ie when I was in 7th. (I'm the youngest btw) So, ya, I am familiar with the concept of separation, but I never really felt like I am away from her.

I am writing this down because:
1) She does not remember my blog, for obvious reason.
2) She'd never open it! Because she'd never expect I'd post about her.

Anyway, the important issue is that I had to say that I Love Her and I'd miss her, but I couldn't because well, its very awkward. And that I'd hate it if she gives anyone half the importance that I rightfully received.
She's funny, irritating, smart, delightful and all the senior citizens love her. Most of my qualities are because I'd see her do something awesome and try to copy (blogging being one of those)
And now that she's married, its like I've lost something very precious! My fav soft toy or something.!

Series of unfortunate events

Today was one of those days when nothing goes right. By nothing I mean even lying on your bed and doing nothing wont be working out properly! The beauty of such a day is that everything seems to exist only to tick you off.
Of all the time when you feel tired, this will be the only day when you'll have headache, stomach ache, back ache, cold and millions of those tiny sickness which never seems to be cured by millions of those tiny tablets.
And most importantly this day will always ALWAYS be during your exams :|
Kill. Me. Now!

Keep Faith

Every year when people start thinking about their New Year resolutions, I sit and recall the year passed to write up this post. Although the major reason for the rewind-and-replay is to understand how life treated me and I her. We all do this ones in a while, except New Year is my scheduled date with myself.
So, 2011, well, it's the year that changed my life. It's the year which changed me. I can't list the things I learnt or which I felt during the 365x24hr long class but I can highlight the important stuff.

For starters, I realized that life is gonna be full of immensely twisted problems. But the good part is the solution comes with it self, just hidden beneath!
There is a fair possibility that the person you trusted the most, wont really come out with such high colors. But yes, you'll always have alteast one person to count on. Always!
Out of 10 things that you planned, only 3 will work out exactly how you'd wanted to be. But yes, atleast 5 will be better than your expectations!
The term 'forever' is highly overrated. Then again forever for anything will be way too boring.
One point that I stick to is, 'as you sow, so shall you reap'. Goes for good as well as bad!

In all 2011 had been a pretty smooth flowing year. If I had to write the jest, it would be that everything works out for the best. As long as you're true to yourself nothing will really make you wanna kill yourself. The year taught me to believe. Believe in myself, believe in people I love and believe that whatever happens is for the best. The last year of my teenage taught me to keep faith because that is what counts the most.
So keep faith, keep smiling!

Why I did not like Don2

Don2, the big 150Cr box office bash, sequel to Don: The Chase Begins (2006) has been the most awaited movie of 2011. With the great stunts and 'close to Hollywood' cinematography Don2 has not only managed to be a super-hit but also achieved critical acclaim!
Now, why I didn't like the movie was the exact same reason why everyone else loved it. Quoting my mom, 'Shuru mein toh theek thi, but end mein that twist, changed my entire point of view!' Now wasn't that way too expected? I mean think of it, you're going to watch Don: a thriller about underworld, mafias and chase, won't the only thing certain be twists! So why make them that obvious? According to that movie nothing went wrong, everything was a 'twist' everything was planned to go wrong. And SRK played the role of God who could see through everything, everyone and knew exactly how things would turn out, down to last detail about reaction of policemen he hadn't even met!
That was way beyond what I could believe and digest.

About Me

I've asked to myself
over and over again,
Who am I?
Where do I stand?
But the only answer I get is a screeching silence.

I am no someone,
you always wanted to meet.
I am no someone,
you'll ever wanna be.
But I am,
for sure,
the only Me.

My life's no simple,
MY thoughts ain't noble,
My deeds no scared,
yet I hope and wish and pray.

I remain
quiet in the crowd,
but speak to my loneliness.
Enjoy the unsaid words,
over the often exclaimed phrases.

I don't seek the
eternal glory,
nor the brightness of light;
I'm made of bone and muscle,
thus need some bread,
may be with some wine.

This is all
I think I know,
cause 'About Me' is a question,
still left
to be atoned.

Last Wish

The cool breeze blows
touches me like His invisible hands
Assuring the comfort to never end.

About to being is a new life
as the bud opens in the dim twilight
I hear the birds awakening the nature
and the stream flowing
with ever growing passion.

The dawn will break
with the suns bright
The rays falling forth upon my sight.
I leave my senses go
as the time swiftly crawls
I feel my spirit lifted to a land, yet, unknown.

I smile
with pride
remembering and watching
everything; which would forever
for-ever be left behind.

But no regrets I have
as I'm travelling to His care.
With one final tear I close my eyes.
Waiting for His invitation
for my home beyond the skies.

Lost Souls

No matter how much you try to run from and how much you plan on avoiding, you'll always bump into people you absolutely hate. The problem with hating someone is, you can't let yourself openly do it. There's always something redeemable inside you that either stops you from doing something evil (the kind they show in daily soaps) or makes you wanna be the bigger person and pretend that you just don't care enough to hate.

Issue being that at one point none works out.
Eventually in life we have to face these gems who have nothing good coming out of them. These are the beautiful creations of God, who won't just let you live your life without constant nudging. Its not difficult to pretend that someone who doesn't live around, doesn't share the workplace, doesn't have a close mutual friend circle is simply dead! But why take pains? Its so much more easier to bother them ever once in a while and make sure to be a total pain in the ass!
People life is small and unpredictable, why waste it on destroying someone you hate! Live your life how YOU personally want to.
Grow up a little, be happy with those who make you happy! Don't complicate things which are good left alone. The only important thing is why bother.!
There's do many thoughts in my head I can't seem to sync right now but I'm pretty sure they all mean the same thing that leave those people alone who want nothing to do with you. Why deteriorate yourself and why bring the same thing over and over again. Just end with it!

If anyone, whom I have, either by words or by actions made it clear, that I simply from the bottom of my heart do NOT like you, is reading this post, please have the decency to just not bother knowing if I am alive or dead or if or not I am dating someone or I am married and have kids!! Because I don't do these things for you :)

Psychopaths and Mystery Writer

Have you ever watched Castle? Its a detective series. The lead character 'Richard Castle' a writer, shadows NYPD's detective Kate Beckett for his next novel and eventually they form an amazing partnership.
So, well, I absolutely love this show! Its mystery, fun, flirt, romance, tension; in all a perfect blend of everything. Now, after watching and re-watching the the first 3 seasons, I have certain observations about the show.

Disclaimer: These, if you haven't observed already, might totally change your perspective towards the show
Anyway, tada!

1) There are loads of innovative ways to get killed.
2) Like the fatality move in Mortal Kombat ('m an xbox freak :D) your body will always end up in, lets say pizza oven or frozen by liquid Nitrogen or hung upside from a fire-escape or I don't know, be a li'l creative!
3) The killer will always, ALWAYS be some one you knew closely and trusted enough to let in, in your house without any struggle.
4) The cops will suspect EVERY SINGLE PERSON who ever smiled at you.
5) Everyone you know will have a motive to kill you.
6) Everyone, even being innocent, will lie.
7) You might wanna thanks Alexis (Castle's daughter) because there is a 40% possibilty that the killer was caught because of some random shit that she said.
8) The killer will NOT be anyone who was suspected.
9) Killer will be caught only when Castle and Beckett have an ephipany, sitting at two different places, but at the same time, that'll be some 5mins before the show's about to end.
10) Also there are two super-powered guys in the show, Ryan and Javier. Why? Because they do the trickest jobs in the simplest way. So their job is to find stuff, what secret the victim has been keeping for months from the rest of the world? Who's who? Stolen stuff, hidden identities, everything.! And how long does it take them to uncover it? One shot of fight between Castle and Beckett; and they're good to go.
11) There is NEVER any kind of media disturbance, because your death is just not important enough!

The Tax System!

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100.
If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay $1.
The sixth would pay $3.
The seventh would pay $7.
The eighth would pay $12.
The ninth would pay $18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy
with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. He said, "Since you are all such
good customers, I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20. Drinks for the ten now cost
just $80."

The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes, so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men -- the paying customers?

How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his "fair share"? They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from every body's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay!

And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings).
The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings).
The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings).
The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings).
The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings).
The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).

Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to drink for free.

But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the $20," declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man, "but he got $10!"

"Yeah, that's right,' exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!"

"That's true!!"shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only $2 ? The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!"

The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up any more. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Rain Rain, GO AWAY!

I would never understand what is it people find so romantic about rain. Importance, yes I get that: irrigation, water cycle, poor birds who die off looking for water; but the mushy cushy romantic bit I'd never get a hang of.
So, when I sit near my window and look outside at the rain (which by the way has been on, since forever now), I do not feel emotionally high, no pretty thought come to me, no day-dreams of my Prince Charming and definitely no violin based background score.
Instead, I see myself carrying a poor umbrella, fighting the winds, saving my bag, cell phone, watch from the out-pour. And ofcourse my jeans, which looks like it's been washed in mud. All the dirty water screws up your shoes and feet! Which in turn makes you sick. Result: you wear shorts to save your jeans and jacket to save yourself. Huh :x
And if that wasn't enough, all the insects look for shelter in your bedroom and your mom wont allow you to have Gol-Gappe because the rain makes everything so 'unhygienic', again, this I dont understand :|

But there's a plus point too and a hugggge one for that matter, you get to push your friends in the dirty stinking water which actually makes up for all other shitty stuff that rain brings :D

Following is, without any doubt, the cutest conversation I've ever come across.

-Ahem ahem??
-Hmm?
-Kya hum boyfriend-girlfriend hain?
-Nahi toh.
-Hmm.
-Hum?? Hum toh soul mates hain ♥

Dear girls, if a guy is ready to appear stupid in front of everyone you know, just to make you smile, MARRY HIM. Because to have found him, you're the luckiest person alive.

Yes, I Blog!

So, here I am in a college : Not totally a new place, not all fresh new faces. I have found some great people who turn out to be awesome friends but zero obligations.
So I keep to myself.
And it does feel good this way.

I don't have a group 'group' and I don't always hang around crowd.
I like quiet, I like solitude and I like to write. So, I blog.!

I'm not a loner. I just like the concept of small family; leads to less complications.

Year Drop

Today, 28th May 2011, is possibly the most important day for my life ahead.
To understand that, lets rewind.
I passed my 12th with commerce background and I was possibly the worst commerce student ever. Because my heart was always with Law. And no, I'm not exaggerating, its as true as dramatic it sounds. So, after preparing for 1 year for CLAT (Common Law Aptitude Test), I got sick, bad, a week before my exam, to be hospitalized immediately and operated on THE day. And being as arrogant as I've always been, I hadn't appeared for any other exam.
The only option was an year drop. Which at the beginning was boring as hell and torturous and discouraging.
Its not easy seeing all your friends starting new life, hating their college, abusing their mess; while all you do is nothing. If there was one advice I'd share was, never take an year drop, never.!
But then eventually you pull yourself together and as slow as possible, you start studying. So did I :)
This past one year was devastating, delusional and somehow still the most fruitful year of my life. I learnt guitar, one thing that had always attracted me, but I never really had time to pick up. I started blogging again, made my blog l'il attractive, although never publicized it enough (not even yet). I went to Indonesia, celebrated my parents 25th wedding anniversary and made a great friend, by far my greatest asset.
And by the end I was happy, way more than happy. I did everything I'd have wanted to do. The only thing left was CLAT.
So I studied, did my part and the exam somehow went well. It was to decide my college life, which for various reasons was going to change my life and not only in a career oriented way. You see, all my life I'd wanted to settle in Bangalore, starting with college, but the way last year turned out, all I wanted was to stick around the people I love. It would have never happened had I not being around the most wonderful people in the world

So, If I was to thank one person for everything I've achieved, I would keep my mouth shut. Because everyone close to me has been so supportive that leaving anyone out would be unfair.
I'd thank dad, for every 1 hour embarrassing you-are-not-studying-enough speeches.
I'd thank mom, for every 5min comforting words after dad's speeches.
NJ & Simmi, for simply bearing me.
Honey, for constantly scaring me regarding the no. of seats and blah blah.
Ashu, for giving me the time to study and not disturbing when I was studying.

I would have never suggested a year drop had I not being the position I am right now, but from this end it doesn't seem so bad :)
And in all this, why was 28 may so important? Because today I was assured my wish has come true. Of course I mean by the result, which wasn't so bad either ;)

Code of Chatting

Some how, mostly internet has narrowed down to one thing and one thing alone : Chatting. Its addictive, relaxing, informative (if gossiping is your forte) and fun, so I heard. Personally I've never been a fan of chatting. Its lethargic, methodical and in various small and frequent doses, awkward.
I always wished there was this written down 'Code of Conduct' for chatting and since I didn't want one from someone else, here is my version of it.
Enjoy
xoxo

  • Don't start with 'wassup'. Seriously, its so irritating. 'wassup?? wassup??' You wanna know what is up? ITS THE CEILING. Just raise your head and check it.!
  • If someone starts with 'wassup' please don't say ceiling, its just rude.
  • Don't use capital letter, WHEN YOU USE CAPS IT MAKES THE READER FEEL LIKE YOU ARE SHOUTING, unless you are shouting, then you're good to go.
  • Wanna kill a chat? Just walk away, don't reply 'hmm' to every question. Its makes the other person wanna kill you.
  • Just because you're a girl doesn't mean you have to wait for the guy to pop first. Its a l'il lame.
  • Excess use of smiley is weird (trust me). Then again, plain words won't help expressing your tone correctly (mostly with being sarcastic).
  • Don't get way too personal way too quick. Asking about the relationship status in the first convo is avoidable, so may be you'd wanna avoid it. Especially if you're talking to a person of opposite sex (which, lets face it, is always the case).
  • Flirting is not banned. But make sure you've reached that comfort level first. Otherwise its just desperate and sad :p
  • Its gonna sound totally unlikely me, but yes, small talks can do wonders.
  • Again, if the person's trying for small talks, reciprocate.
  • And ya, its 'lol' not lolzzz or lolllll and its definitely not lollaa.
  • If you are a person like me, who'd tend to get knocked down when people try to be nice and friendly through chatting, just stay offline. It sure helps.

Finally, in a slightly unrelated note, never send a private message like 'please add me' NEVER.

Father's Day

I found this poem somewhere on the net.
No idea who the poet is and the title's mine too.
But as soon as I read it, I felt like its worth spreading.
Do give it a shot.

Father's Day

Her hair was up in a ponytail
Her favorite dress tied with a bow
Today was Daddy's Day at school
And she couldn't wait to go.
But her mommy tried to tell her,
That she probably should stay home.
Why the kids might not understand,
If she went to school alone.
But she was not afraid;
She knew just what to say.
What to tell her classmates
Of why he wasn't there today.
But still her mother worried,
For her to face this day alone.
And that was why once again,
She tried to keep her daughter home.
But the little girl went to school,
Eager to tell them all.
About a dad she never sees,
A dad who never calls.

There were daddies along the wall in back,
For everyone to meet
Children squirming impatently,
Anxious in their seats.
One by one the teacher called,
Each student from the class.
To introduce their daddy,
As seconds slowly passed.
At last the teacher called her name,
Every child turned to stare.
Each of them was searching,
For a man who wasn't there.
"Where's her daddy at?"
She heard a boy call out.
"She probably doesn't have one"
Another student dared to shout.
And from somewhere near the back,
She heard a daddy say,
"Looks like another deadbeat dad,
Too busy to waste his day."
The words did not offened her,
As she smiled up at her mom.
And looked back at her teacher,
Who told her to go on.
And with hands behind her back,
Slowly she began to speak.
And out from the mouth of a child,
Came words incredibly unique.
"My daddy couldn't be here,
Because he lives so far away.
But I know he wishes he could be,
Since this is such a special day.
And though you cannot meet him,
I wanted you to know.
All about my daddy,
And how much he loves me so.
He loved to tell me stories
He taught me to ride my bike.
He surprised me with pink roses,
And taught me to fly a kite.
We used to share fudge sundaes,
and ice cream in a cone.
And though you cannot see him,
I'm not standing here alone.
Cause my daddy's always with me
Even though we are apart.
I know because he told me,
He'll forever be in my heart."
With that, her little hand reached up,
and lay across her chest.
Feeling her own heartbeat,
Beneath her favorite dress.
And from somewhere in the crowd of dads,
Her mother stood in tears.
Proudly watching her daughter,
Who was wise beyond her years.
For she stood up for the love
Of a man not in her life.
Doing what was best for her,
Doing what was right.
And when she dropped her hand back down,
Staring straight into the crowd.
She finished with a voice so soft,
But its message clear and loud.
"I love my daddy very much,
He's my shining star.
And if he could he'd be here,
But heaven's just too far.
You see he was a fireman
And died just this past year.
When airplanes hit the towers
And taught Americans to fear.
But sometimes when I close my eyes,
It's like he never went away."
And then she closes her eyes,
And saw him there that day.
And to her mother's amazement,
She witnessed with surprise.
A room full of daddies and children,
All starting to close their eyes.
Who knows what they say before them,
Who knows what they felt inside.
Perhaps for merely a second,
They saw him at her side.
"I know you're with me Daddy."
To the silence she called out.
And what happened next made believers,
Of those once filled with doubt.
Not one in that room could explain it,
For each of their eyes had been closed.
But there on the desk beside her,
Was a fragrant long-stemmed pink rose.
And a child was blessed, if only for a moment,
By the love of her shining bright star.
And given the gift of believing,
That heaven is never too far.

I Wonder

How does it feel to be dead? I have no idea what death means. Or why is it scary; isn't it just like sleeping: you lay down, close your eyes and Rest In Peace?
How you ever felt nothing? The taste on your tongue when you're not eating anything? Or why the time while you're sleeping feels non-existent?
Why do we notice our hands' presence only when it hurts? Put your hand up and try not to feel the air around it. Feel your hand for a change. Feels weird, right?
Everyone is worried about the end of the world, but if all living soul, ever organism is finishing at ones, whom to worry for and why?

When I sit to think about all this, my mind gives me more questions, enough to make me forget looking for the answers. Well, isn't this the problem with all of us. We search around, everywhere without knowing what to look for. There are so many options, so many ideas and so many problems that sticking around to one becomes impossible. And when we force ourselves to hang onto something, it eventually looses it's charm and we loose the passion.

No clue if life is short. And I definitely do not know what that phrase mean. But what I do know is that it's just one. You can't make or break it. You can live. You can smile. You can share laughs.
Life is not such a complex issue. What only matters is happiness. Money, success or fame are just different ways to grab that.

It's easy to complicate. But that's not how it's supposed to be done.
Everyones got problems of their own but every problem comes with its solution-soulmate. And 10 years later when you'll look back it'll all seem like a story: nothing so difficult that it couldnt be taken care of. Remember to be good from within, yes, it won't change the world or stop the possible next world war, but it'll be satisfying. Because if life has any meaning at all, it's living.

"I was just wondering if anyone else ever wondered about all this :)"
